The Aviator Cafe in Alderney's airport will close today and won't re-open until a new concessionaire is found, after the current one chose to end their contract at short notice.
Guernsey Ports says "work is underway to ensure there is a food and beverage service" at the airport before Alderney Week begins (7-12 August).
The current operator of the cafe has notified Guernsey Ports that they will cease trading by the end of the day.
"Guernsey Ports has already received proposals from several businesses for the operation of the Alderney Airport café on a short-term basis until 31st December 2023," ports said in a media release.
"These offers are being treated as formal Expressions of Interest and will be assessed with a view to installing an interim operator by the end of this week."
There will be access to a water dispenser during this "short break in service" and a full tender process will launch in 2024 for a long-term concessionaire.
